I'll start by saying this isn't the day I wanted to do. I wanted to blog about a productive, academically stimulating day...but it's just one of those days, and those days do happen-so here it is...
- I chose today, Friday March, 21 to capture an unedited view of our homeschool day. I woke up late at around 7 or 8am, my clock was covered up. I checked my email and for my morning quiet time I read 30 Days at the Foot of the Cross aloud with my husband; in unity with our brothers and sisters during the 30 days preceding Easter.
- Kendal crawled into bed with us while I was reading. He was warm. The children all started to slowly wake up and do their morning routines. I checked Kendal's temp. it was 103! No other symptoms.
- I gathered all the kids in my room for morning devotions at 10am. We are slowly studying Proverbs verse by verse. So we were in Proverbs 1:30.
- I already had to bring a urine sample to the doctor today, b/c of Peyton's recurring UTI's so I decided since I would already be there, just to have Kendal checked.
- I assigned everyone work on the computer. Kyle: IXL decimals, typing, Spanish, math games. Twins and Kason IXL counting money, More Starfall phonics readers and math. abcya skeleton.
- Was almost late for my appointment because I had a conversation with a child (whose identity I will protect) that went something like, " I didn't spray his back with a spray bottle, it had a bubble on the bottle and I touched it on his back". I did roll my eyes. And use words like SERIOUSLY!
- Kendal has strep throat!
- I mentioned to her that the baby has had a cold for several weeks, so she suggested I bring her in as well to make sure she didn't have strep. I also told her I would be making an appointment for Kaden before he starts soccer again, during the fall soccer season he displayed asthma like symptoms. She said to bring him in as well.
- I took Kenny to get ice cream and ate lunch at Chick Fil A
- Fed and changed the baby, and quickly checked Kyle's math. Then I brought Genesis, Kendal and Kaden back to the doctor.
- God in his providence brought us to the Doctor today, because Kaden hasn't had any sick symptoms at all. I truly only brought him to get a medical clearance for soccer since he had such a hard time with his breathing in the fall. But when she checked his lung capacity it was way below normal and upon examination he was wheezing. She immediately gave him a breathing treatment, his breathing improved a lot but was still below normal. He was diagnosed with asthma.
- Here he is reading a book after his treatment. And we shall call this Reading 101. And we shall count this as school. Check.
- Genesis doesn't have strep, but does have a sinus infection.
- Luckily I love my kids doctor's and nurses and we had a great time there. We have a Women's Event coming up at church and a few of them are interested in coming so we talked about registration and transportation and just all the ways God is working in our lives.
- Had to stop and get Kaden something to eat, because he hadn't eat lunch, by this time it's 4 o'clock.
- Dh asked for help putting up a shelf, and I did that for a minute. Quick cleaned the house.
- Talked to a nurse who scheduled a couple of tests for Peyton next week for a recurring UTI; in which I learn what a Nephrologist is.
- Took Kason with me to get everyone's meds from the pharmacy
- What was I thinking going through the drive-thru for meds for 3 kids?? 20 minutes later we were done.
- During 20 minutes in line I saw a lady who looked like she needed some help
- After I was done, I met this lady and her children and was able to assist them and show them the love of Christ.
- Came home and administered meds. Prepped dinner. Kids were playing outside, then played games for game day. 7pm
- Ate dinner at about 8pm
- Put kids in bed at 9pm and we read Being Mean from the Help Me Be Good Series. I found 20 books at Goodwill this week for $10 Although they aren't "Christian", the series is full of good character lessons and we can easily find scriptures in God's Words that teach each principle.
- Would have had kids clean up, but chose to clean myself in favor of some peace and quiet.
- Drank my cocoa and read to unwind. And now I'm up at midnight, hanging out with my husband. b/c he's a night owl. I'm not. And I'm typically not up at such an ungodly hour, but...it's just one of those days...
