Week in Review 1, 2014
By Heart of Wisdom Academy - Friday, September 05, 2014
It was an AWESOME first week of school :-) Oh, the energy and the enthusiasm...I hope it never leaves. This is our first year using Classical Conversations and I'm soooooo excited.
What is Classical Conversations?
Classical Conversations Foundations program has students memorize information in 6 subjects; history, science, geography, math, Latin, English grammar. Additionally students memorize a 161 point timeline. I am not part of a Classical Conversations Community, I have the Foundations book which includes all the memory work, and I enhance it by choosing books, projects and activities from halfahundredacrewood.com
Why did I choose Classical Conversations?
2 things:I asked myself at the beginning of the summer, "What do my kids actually remember from last year"? And what is a skill that will help them prepare for and pass CLEP exams and have a practical application in adult life. The answers to both questions came to me in the form of memory techniques. After immersing myself in memory techniques, books, and mnemonics all summer. I decided instead of coming up with a list of memory work myself, I would use the one Classical Conversations has laid out. I'm so glad I did!
How am I using Classical Conversations in my home this year?
