Consider Exactly How Much Time Your Child Will be at School:

These statistics are based on the local school my kids are zoned for, your statistics may vary slightly. It is your responsiblity to find out exactly how much time your child will be at school.

In my school district Wednesday's are half days.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday the school day is 9:05-3:40=6hr 35min. per day
Wednesday 9:05-1:10= 4hr 5min.
Bus stop:8:30 am
Bus stop:4:05 pm and 1:35pm on Weds.

Our zoned school is 1.8 miles away. Total time on bus daily is about an hour.

M,T,Th,F total hours per day including travel time-7hr and 35 min or 455 minutes daily
W total hours per day including travel time-5 hr and 5 min or 305 minutes daily

Total time per week at school:
Mon:455 minutes
Tue:455 minutes
Wed:305 minutes
Thur:455 minutes
Fri:455 minutes
5 day week=2,125 minutes per week or About 35 hours per week.

180 school days over 36 weeks.

2,125 minutes per week x 36 weeks per year=76,500 minutes or 1,275 hours per year

76,500 minutes per year x 13 years of school=994,500 minutes or 16,575 hours


We're looking at nearly 1 million minutes!!!!!

This isn't even including, before or after school programs and summer programs. This doesn't include soccer practice, music pratice, television, computer, friends, or any-number of the other things that ebb away at our time with our children. When we start to add up all of these things we get a picture of how much time we actually spend parenting our children and how little precious time we have them. Are you beginning to understand why you must as a Christian parents consider time? Anything that uses this much time in our lives deserves careful scrutiny, does it not?
