Prioritizing Relationships

I made a commitment this year to go on a date with my husband and each of my children every month. I realized that if I don't prioritize it, it won't get done and cultivating relationships with the people that I love are worth the effort. My children will most likely NOT remember doing Saxon lesson number 56 or reading about dead president number 18, but they'll remember that I thought they were important enough for me to stop everything I'm doing to spend time with them.

It just so happened the best day for my date with Kason was last Thursday. He wanted to go to Wendy's and the dollar store. We had a sweet time. We did a little school before and a little school after, but we spent the most time tying heart strings. I had a date with Kendal this morning. Just he and I went to the museum, we had a snack at the cafe, which is ultra special never-been-done-before treat! We saw whatever animals he wanted to see. We sat and smiled at each other.

A little bit of money, a little bit of time. I'm making deposits into their love bank. This is homeschooling. I'm teaching my children how to love, how to prioritize, and how to communicate.
