Me and my sweet kiddies.

He's sicker than he looks.

It's hard to look sick when you're so happy and cute. It shirt actually says 100% Happy.

We left the next day, after he got diagnosed with pneumonia. We figured all the kids were pretty sick because they all sounded the same. I did lament leaving heaven  I mean the Outer Banks, and I tried to be brave and not cry. Such is the life :-)
All the kids were on breathing treatments 3 or 4 times a day and antibiotics. If I didn't need a vacation before...

The next week my husband had surgery on his shoulder. He was in a forklift accident last year.
This is us on a date before surgery!!!
  • His shoulder surgery went great!
  • Later in the week he developed a blood clot in the leg. He started complaining that his leg really hurt and when I touched it, it was swollen. So we loaded up sleeping children at almost midnight and brought him to the ER.
  • He was diagnosed with a blood clot, but not he dangerous kind and was given antibiotics to break up the clot.
  • Exactly 24 hours later, nearly midnight the hospital called and said that it actually was the dangerous blood clot and he needed to come back immediately.
  • Thank God for awesome friends who came immediately and watched the kids so we could go back.
  • He's been on blood thinners ever since and is doing great!
  • Which is great because then we saw this.... Yah!!!!!!
And now all we see is this.....

  • The verdict is still out on whether this has been the worst morning sickness since Kyle. I can't really remember. I know for certain that every pregnancy I have had moderate and in one case severe nausea and vomiting.
  • This pregnancy the nausea and vomiting are making me very weak, dehydrated, and exhausted most of the time, I'm kind of living in a daze and can't really function. For the first time in our marriage my husband has had to learn how to do laundry! I haven't cooked or cleaned in two months. I've had to move into my own room because my sense of smell is so intense that the smell of anyone makes me vomit.
  • Then I had an idea on how to manage morning sickness.
  • I will preface this by saying that it ended up not being a bright idea. Cough drops seemed to take the edge off of the nausea so I started consuming copious amount of them and sleeping with them. Until one day I woke up and couldn't swallow. My uvula (dangly thing in throat) was swollen and sagging on my tongue. I immediately went to the ER in which they promptly gave me two shots, Penicillin and a steroid. I also got thrush, which I was able to get rid of using Tea Tree Oil. I'm sure I'll never eat another cough drop again.
  • Last week I had to have my wisdom tooth removed. I guess the pain kept my senses confused so I didn't vomit for a couple of days. My esophagus was thankful.
  • But all is not despair...God has continually showered his love on us. I'm particularly moved to tears by the help and generosity of our bible-talk group. They have served us with such love and compassion these last few weeks. Cooking, cleaning, mowing yards, etc. etc. We are so grateful.
  • How's Homeschooling going? I'll talk about that next post!
