Reading is Fundamental and Wisdom

One day I'll have time to blog in words and not pictures. But that time won't be this week.(Okay, so I stole time to blog. I'm a firm believer in the fact that in 20 years I'm going to cherish these memories) I have 2 papers due in about 4 weeks so I'll be doing research for those papers. I'm researching about working women and the dual career family, and it's interesting! I have a lot of opinions about that. I could stand to spend more time studying. (If I knew how to roll my eyes on the computer I would) People often ask me, "How do you do it all"? Well....I guess it's easy. I don't do all things well! When I first started school I had a 4.0 and was very vigilant about keeping it, but as time went on, (not a lot of time) I knew I needed to make choices. I could settle for a B, if I spent more time on things that had eternal value, and I would be okay with that. So the secret is, I settle for B's and sometimes C's (Gasp!), I almost never shop, I absolutely don't cook every day, (bigger GASP!) and I blog/sew/talk on the phone/etc. instead of studying. I'm not necessarily a moron, sluggard, or procrastinator, and I don't pay a billion dollars to go to school to do mediocre(I'll graduate this year with a 3.5 or above), but my point is that school isn't important in the big scheme of things. God doesn't require a diploma to get into Heaven, and I'll be in Heaven a lot longer than I'll ever be on earth. I don't want to spend my precious fleeting years here on earth, "storing up treasure" and putting my faith in the worlds wisdom.

The length of our days is seventy years-- or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. Psalms 90:10

I want to spend my maybe 70 or 80 years living as a pilgrim and stranger(2Peter 2:11)"I want to know one thing, the way to Heaven, how to land safe on that happy shore" John Wesley

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.
The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
2Peter 3:10-14

1Corinthians 1:19-31
For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
